Volunteer Opportunities

Overview

United Way of York County started the Youth Volunteer Initiative (YVI) in 2001 to work with schools and agencies to engage young people in volunteerism. Its mission is to develop and aggressively promote a comprehensive youth volunteer program empowering agencies, schools, and other volunteer organizations to mobilize youth in addressing York County’s needs. The YVI is housed within the Volunteer Center of the United Way of York County and grew out of the need to develop a process for reaching out to and educating youth about the importance of volunteerism and civic engagement.
